Greater Manchester Safeguarding Children (GMSC) are a public sector board made up of representatives from various organisations in the area including GMP, Stockport Council and Salford Council.
Their remit is the provision of information, guidelines and procedures for people working with or alongside children.
Pyxisoft have been contracted to create a portal containing these guidlines and procedures. We look forward to working with GMSC.
Hypnia are a new company who produce Memory Foam Mattresses. Pyxisoft have won the contract to create an exciting e-commerce presence aimed at the luxury mattress market. Hypnia have identified some very clear aims and objectives detailing what they are trying to achieve and we look forward to helping them get there.
Things are in their very early stages at the minute, but as a result of some internal business software Hypnia already have in place; we’ll be delivering this project using Ruby on Rails. We’re excited by this too!
Well, it’s a bit more than a fresh lick of paint to the bows. Cardinal Maritime are a long standing client of ours who provide shipping and logistics services worldwide. The company has undergone a rebrand recently including some new livery for the rolling stock and naturally a new look web site to match.
Far be it for Cardinal to just stop at that. As ever, the guys at Cardinal have pushed on further and we’ve taken the opportunity to make a few upgrades to the already award winning FreightCalculatorâ„¢ software.
You can still get an instant quote with transparent pricing, but with more options and destinations than before. In line with the new offices opening in Ireland, you can now obtain Euro pricing for shipments leaving Ireland to anywhere in the world.
Well, it took a little longer than anticipated but I’m pleased to say that the new Movers Transport site is now up and running. Movers are a Domestic and Commercial Removals company who also offer short – long term storage facilities.
In fact, if you’re looking for somewhere to hide that Home Gym you bought as part of your new year’s resolutions give Craig and the lads a call. They’ll even come round and pick it up for you!
Seriously though, the new site offers an instant price for a removal or storage using either the 30sec quick quote or the more indepth, full quote features. Why not visit Movers Transport and see for yourself.
Hands up all those who over indulged? [I did] I had a lovely Christmas break (the glass bottle recyling bin in my garden tells it’s own story) and don’t mind admitting I’ve had to warm up to coming back. Still, the next few weeks should see us complete a new site build and that’s always exciting.
Here’s to a prosperous 2008!
Just a quick note to say Merry Christmas to all. It’s been a busy few months here at Pyxisoft HQ and it’s now time for a well earned break.
See you in the New Year!
Well, I’ve been at it again; on behalf of MDDA – although it’s not all coffee and sandwiches. Last night’s talk around the importance of good design raised some cracking discussions and views on how sites should look and feel.
It’s always refreshing to talk to other businesses who have their own take on how they think the web should be. We have our own (hopefully informed) ideas and opinions which we try to impart to those who ask; but I love to talk to people who’ve spent some time on the web and have come up with their own ideas on how things should be.
I’ve been doing a number of these talks over the past few months and I’m pleased to say that I’ve enjoyed doing them. It’s just as well really, as I’ve been asked to be involved in some more over the coming year.
However, I’ll make sure the next post is about the work that’s been going on in the office whilst I’ve been out enjoying the tea and cake. There has been plenty going on with hopefully some projects being completed soon in the New Year!
Last night’s Q&A session at the Central Library also included two presentations, one of which by our friends over at PushOn. MD Simon Wharton gave a talk on the importance of Search Engine Optimisation and what it is all about. He covered various topics such as Google ranks, meta data, content and useful tools such as blogging and forums.
Following this and a presentation about a successful eBay shop the Q&A session began. An interesting range of questions were fielded and everyone seemed to get something from it.
Following on from our earlier seminar on Design: Why it matters a few weeks ago I’ve been invited to sit on the Q&A panel for the Central Manchester event this week. It is the last in the current series of events being run at Manchester’s Central Library by MDDA entitled ‘Selling on the Web‘. So if you are free and have something to ask (or maybe you fancy a beer – we like that too) come along to the event. The panel will consist of representatives covering each of the series subjects plus a few others.
Following last weeks seminar for South Manchester which was the beginning of a new series of Selling on the Web, I’ll be back to give a talk on Design again. This time for the south. It’s not for a few weeks yet, but if you are interested, there are several other subjects covered in the coming weeks such as advertising, accepting payment online and how to stay legal.
