SEO talk goes down well

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Last night’s Q&A session at the Central Library also included two presentations, one of which by our friends over at PushOn. MD Simon Wharton gave a talk on the importance of Search Engine Optimisation and what it is all about. He covered various topics such as Google ranks, meta data, content and useful tools such as blogging and forums.

Following this and a presentation about a successful eBay shop the Q&A session began. An interesting range of questions were fielded and everyone seemed to get something from it.

Talking in a library?

Wednesday, November 14th, 2007

Following on from our earlier seminar on Design: Why it matters a few weeks ago I’ve been invited to sit on the Q&A panel for the Central Manchester event this week. It is the last in the current series of events being run at Manchester’s Central Library by MDDA entitled ‘Selling on the Web‘. So if you are free and have something to ask (or maybe you fancy a beer - we like that too) come along to the event. The panel will consist of representatives covering each of the series subjects plus a few others.

Following last weeks seminar for South Manchester which was the beginning of a new series of Selling on the Web, I’ll be back to give a talk on Design again. This time for the south. It’s not for a few weeks yet, but if you are interested, there are several other subjects covered in the coming weeks such as advertising, accepting payment online and how to stay legal.

Pyxisoft are working with MDDA

Monday, November 5th, 2007

We were recently asked to speak at a seminar aimed at Small Businesses here in Manchester. Organised by MDDA the seminar was part of a suite of seminars focussing on topics such asĀ  selling on the web, legal issues around the web and design. I was asked to give a talk on ‘Design - Why it matters’. The event was attended by around 40 delegates and was held on 31st October at Manchester’s Central Library. It was the 4th event in this current series

Such was the success of the seminar we’ve been asked to get involved in a similar set of seminars based in South Manchester. We’re giving the opening talk to start the series. The subject is ‘Selling on the Web’ and is part of the first event being held on Thursday 8th November 2007 from 5.30pm -7.30pm at Manchester Science Park. We’re also giving another talk at Event 4 similar to the one we gave at Central Libraries. Lastly, we’ve been invited to the open Q & A sessions at the end of both the Central and South Manchester series’. The dates for those events are Thursday 13th December 2007 at 5.30pm -7.30pm (South) and Wednesday 14th November 2007 (Central).

We’d love to see you there so if you are interested, please book via one of the following links:

Pyxisoft take on young recruit

Monday, November 5th, 2007

Well, maybe not really but we thought it would be nice to tell people of a new arrival here at pyxisoft. Matthew Steven was born on 21st Oct a healthy 8lb 4oz. Jubilant father Steve said “He’s a little young yet to write software for us, but I think he’d make a great Customer Relations Manager - he has quite an impact on everyone he meets!”. We’re not sure child labour laws would permit that but we wish Matthew all the best and will follow his progress.
